Green turtle makes rare Venice appearance

A large green turtle nested at Caspersen Beach two weeks ago. When the city of Venice was founded that would not have been considered newsworthy. In the 1920s, no one thought twice about eating scrambled turtle eggs.

About This Site
Mar 18, 2005
This site will be a repository for profiles of various Venice Beach residents, artists, businesses, and boardwalk vendors. We plan on profiling each entity on their own page, eventually making this a bit of a virtual Venice from a local perspective. We hope to have fun and meet a lot of great people along the way. Stay tuned.

The Venice Beach Lottery
Mar 21, 2005
Below is a link to a paper I wrote about the Venice Beach lottery....I've since learned some new facts and the paper isn't entirely accurate as I think I got the name of the guy who does the political billboards wrong. As well, I now realize that some of the spaces are a different size than others, though I don't think it affects the larger point about space flexibility. Since that time, I've heard a lot of stories about businesses getting spots to specifically keep them empty and I've seen a lot more empty spaces on the boardwalk. Anyways, here is the paper..... http://www.aboutvenicebeach.com/uploads/commpsychfinal2.doc
